Welcome to Reception!

This week the children have made a great start learning the first set of high frequency words. The children will bring home their wallet with the words to learn.  Keep an eye out for them in reading folders as not all children will have their words on the same day. The purpose is for the children to gain instant recall of these common words to complement their blending skills. There will be a letter in with the words with more detailed information. We hope you can find the time to look at the words, ideally for a short time (5 minutes) each day, to help the children to learn them.

PE will be on Wednesday next week.  Please check that children have shorts, a T shirt and plimsolls in their bags. Thank you.

Just a plea to ensure that your child’s guided reading book is kept in the folder and sent into school every day along with their guided reading book.  If we lose track of books from a set, it can become very difficult to keep on top of their organisation and an incomplete set of books cannot be used with a group.  Thanks for your understanding and support.

This week the children have really enjoyed working collaboratively to make models using lots of different resources. However we are now running low on our box craft resources. If you have any items at home that you think would be useful such as cereal boxes, yogurt pots, lids, bottle tops etc. we would be very grateful.

The Value of the Month for January is responsibility.  Responsibility means making good choices and caring for ourselves, others and our environment. Showing responsibility might mean putting your fruit peel in the bin, changing your reading book every morning or making sure you have all of your things with you at the end of the day.

With best wishes
