Welcome to Year 4!

We have had another exciting week in Year 4 to end our first half term!

In maths, we have been investigating the properties of 3D shapes and completing challenges involving finding lines of symmetry. After half term we will start off by revising telling the time and solving time problems.

Inspired by Roald Dahl's 'The Twits' this week we started this week by writing some fabulous poems! We then went on to practice and perform poems, inspired by the performances of poet Michael Rosen, developing our use of volume, tone, expression and pace.

This week, we enjoyed making some tasty Mayan-style cookies, including a range of ingredients including chillis! Many thanks to our parent volunteers for helping us with this.  We also created Mayan fact files in Topic, and investigated melting chocolate in Science.  In PSHCE we discussed PANTS (the underwear rule), and made posters to teach younger children about keeping themselves safe.

It was great to meet so many of you at our parent consultations this week and at the curriculum evening the week before. All the presentations from the curriculum evening, plus some other resources such as tips for helping your child with reading, are on the hub on the school website.

We haven't set the children any new homework over half term, however we would like them to revise this term's spelling patterns for a test in the first week back.  It is always valuable to practice times tables too.

Finally, on the first day back, the children will be taking part in some exciting activities to kick-start our topic on the Tudors.  It would be really helpful if the children were able to bring in an orange - thank you!

As always, thank you for your ongoing support, and we hope you have a fantastic half term break!
