Welcome to Year 5!

We are back to a 'normalish' week next week after a fabulous time at TYM. The weather was kind to us and all the children seemed to have enjoyed the different activities - it was great to see such team work and cooperation.

On Wednesday, the children will be moving up to meet and work with their new Year 6 teachers. The children are remaining in their present classes and they will be informed of their new teacher on Tuesday.

In the newsletter which went out on Friday, it stated that Year 5 were to have swimming on Tuesday but this is not the case. As it is move-up day on Wednesday, there will be no swimming and this was taken into account in your contribution to the swimming.
There is no swimming next week - July 12th - either because the children will be having a sex education lesson with the school nurse. However, the children will have their final lesson on Wednesday July 19th to make up for this.

Last week in maths the children carried out various activities based on perimeter and area and this week we will be re-visiting percentage.

The children finished their writing based on the Highwayman last week and they have produced some fabulous work. This week we will be debating different topics.

In DT the children are making small cushions and we would appreciate any bits of off-cuts you may have for the collage work - mainly greens and browns.

Kind regards
The Year 5 team
